Kim Rian (25, Amano Korea) is back in the golfing world after overcoming heart disease. She will leave the field in October 2023 due to severe aortic valve stenosis, which prevents her from sending blood from the heart to the head, and regained her health through surgery and rehabilitation treatment. She passed the regular tour seed rankings in November last year, and will be on the KLPGA tour, which is her dream stage.
In a recent interview with Maeil Business, Kim Ri-an said, "When I was on the operating table, I never thought that the day would come when I was called professional golfer Kim Ri-an again. Fortunately, the surgery went well and my body condition was fine, so I can play golf again. As I have a special opportunity, I will play a great role in the KLPGA tour."
The process of qualifying for the regular tour was dramatic. Kim, who became a golfer again in 10 months after the surgery, had only about 90 days to prepare for the seed match. Kim did not give up, however. By calmly boosting his performance, he survived the fierce competition. 온라인바카라
"When I went to the practice round for the first time since the surgery, I thought I would be eliminated from the preliminary round by recording my mid-80s performance. Fortunately, the shot and putt came back quickly, and I recorded good results in both the preliminary and the finals. I feel like I'm back in my place after a long time of wandering, but I'm going to enjoy my tour this year," Kim said.
Asked how much his performance has improved compared to before his heart disease surgery, Kim replied that his golf skills have improved to a point where he can compare himself to the previous ones. "It is true that I was very worried at first because I couldn't remember how to grip the grip. But now, I can feel that he has improved in every aspect. The average distance of driver shots has increased by nearly 10 yards, and he can now use both drawings and fade," Kim stressed.
What Kim is most satisfied with is his pitches that fit each situation. "In the past, I had difficulty hitting the pin on the left side of the green because I could only hit a draw. There were also many mistakes where the ball was widely wound to the left. Now that I can control not only the draw and fade but also the ball's trajectory, I think I will be able to play more comfortably this year than before," Kim said.
He said it was very helpful not to be able to play golf for 10 months as he changed his swing in a short period of time, which he had difficulty correcting even after trying for more than a year. "The bad habits that plagued me before my heart disease surgery disappeared naturally as I couldn't practice. As a result, I was able to quickly learn new movements and make them my own," he said.
While away from the golfing world for a while, Kim said he realized the importance of golf. "As I have to live my second life, I have done various things at restaurants and cafes. Whenever I played golf, I was the happiest. I am truly grateful for what I can do as a living beyond playing golf again," Kim said.
This year's goal is to rank within the top 60 in the KLPGA tour prize money, securing a berth for the next season. "I want to win the championship. But I think my priority is to adjust. I will step up at my own pace," he said.
She also expressed her expectations for the KLPGA tour with Park Hyun-kyung, Cho Hye-rim and Oh Kyung-eun. It is the first time this year that four players, who have been close since elementary school, will play together in the KLPGA tour. "If it weren't for the support of my three friends, I don't think I would be who I am today. It took more than 10 years for me to keep my promise to meet each other in the KLPGA tour. I hope we can make good memories together by supporting each other during the season," she said.
Kim also expressed his gratitude to Amano Korea, which recently signed a main sponsorship contract, and management crowning. "I received help from so many people in the process of returning to the KLPGA tour. In particular, I will do my best to repay Amano Korea with grades that trust and support me," he said.
